Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Senior Communications Manager
The Senior Communications Manager will conduct on-going public relations, community relations, media relations, corporate communications, crisis communications and issue management activities for agency clients. This is a senior practitioner position responsible for strategy and writing of statewide, multi-media public relations and advertising campaigns. A strong working relationship with known media outlets is important as well as having a strong level of awareness of the industries that drive Alaska’s economy.
Additionally, this person must possess strong writing, media pitch strategies, project management and customer service skills commensurate to the agency’s strong commitment to creating an exceptional work product. This position may or may not supervise staff but would supervise communication plans for a for a variety of clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- The Senior Communications Manager will work with a variety of corporate clients assisting with all aspects of managing multi-media statewide communication campaigns and internal communication strategies.
- The Senior Communications Manager will develop and maintain professional relationships with agency clients as a trusted public relations professional in times of crisis management. They must maintain FEMA crisis command training, intense knowledge of AP style guides and unique client style guides.
- The Senior Communications Manager must have a working knowledge of statewide media journalists, bloggers, influencers, and PR industry stakeholders. They must be able to demonstrate capabilities with producing media tools including press releases, fact sheets, media advisories, press events, market research, social media PR strategies, media audits, coverage reports, and crisis response.
- Must be familiar with conducting traditional and non-traditional ally development, third party development, grass roots and grass tops legislative advocacy.
- The Senior Communications Manager should be able to work cooperatively with agency peers to produce multi-media tools of the trade including advertisements, collateral products, digital media assets, websites, video/radio ads, creative writing, social media, and will manage special events including online and onsite promotions.
- Must have working knowledge of general media planning and strategy.
